On August 9th 1995, with just £46 in the bank, we started out of 800sq ft of factory space making, in the first week, one window and door. At the time we had no lights, no racks, no kettle and not much chance! We didn’t know it at the time but we were starting something we are very proud of. Over 25 years later, we’ve expanded our factory space 25 times currently occupying up to 60,000sq ft. We employ hundreds of people and produce thousands of windows/doors every week!
How was this achieved?
Very hard work, experienced and dedicated staff, offering a great product at a great price with fantastic service and a determination to succeed. This doesn’t happen without doing an excellent job.
There have been many challenges along the way whilst growing into one of the largest double glazing companies in the North West. The obvious example is continual re-investment and product development.
Other less obvious challenges have been the petrol strike in 2000 where at one point we were booking horse-drawn carts to transport our windows and doors. The factory fire of 2002 should also be mentioned – after only two days of disruption we continued to manufacture windows in 4 inches of water with no lights and no roof – just a determination to keep going so we didn’t let any of our customers down.
2005 was both exciting and nerve wracking. We underwent a massive multi-million pound expansion with the introduction of automated robotic machinery and an extra 16,000 sq ft of new factory space to open our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which is the foundation of today’s success.
We have the know how
There’s a human story here too. Family are the most important to us, all of the owner’s children come to work and help run the company. We pride ourselves on our laid back family atmosphere and there’s no ageism, we have several members of staff in their mid-sixties and staff that have been with us for 10, 12 and 14 years! Who says you can’t buy experience?
Buy direct from the manufacturer
We manufacture all our own windows, doors and sealed units. In fact, if we were a fish & chip shop, we’d catch our own fish, grow our own potatoes and then pass the savings on to our customers. You should be able to see your investment before you buy it. Were one of the few companies that have all our products on display. When you’re potentially spending a lot of money, we provide you with the luxury of being able to touch, feel and look at your new purchase. You should always be careful when spending your money, there are many companies trading who survive from one job to the next.
Companies and individuals that buy their windows and doors ‘supply only’, have no investment in their company, premises, machinery or staff; they have not paid the price or earned the right to call themselves an established window company – when all you make is tea and promises, you’re simply not committed to the future of your business.
